A timeline of resilience, rebuilding, and the community that helped shape us.
Studio 259 has always been more than a salon — it’s a place built on resilience, community, and a commitment to creating an exceptional experience for every client who walks through the door.
What began as Christie’s dream of running her own salon became a reality on July 19, 2016, when Studio 259 officially opened. The space had previously been Cutters, a long-standing salon owned by Denny Marra. After Denny’s passing in 2016, his son, Pete Marra, offered the opportunity for one of the chair renters to take over the business. Christie stepped forward, formed her LLC, and transformed the space into Studio 259, a warm and welcoming salon with a focus on personal service and modern techniques.
In April 2018, Studio 259 faced an unexpected setback. A fire began in the back corner of the plaza, originating in a different business. Within an hour, the entire building was engulfed in flames. Christie and the team stood by and watched the business they worked so hard to build go down.
Despite the loss, there was no doubt the salon would return. With insurance in place and the support of their landlord, Pete Marra, the rebuilding process began almost immediately. By December 2018, just eight months later, the building was fully reconstructed — and Studio 259 reopened its doors, stronger and more inspired than before.
Another challenge arrived in March 2020, when COVID-19 forced salons across the country to close their doors. Studio 259 temporarily shut down under government requirements, but the team stayed optimistic and prepared for the return.
By May 2020, the salon reopened with restrictions, adapting quickly to new guidelines to keep clients safe. By the end of the year, operations were back to normal, and business steadily grew.
Through every challenge — fire, rebuilding, and a global pandemic — Studio 259 has remained grounded in the values it started with: personal connection, a relaxed salon atmosphere, modern techniques, and a dedication to beautiful, healthy hair.
Today, the salon is thriving with five rental chairs, four of which are filled by incredibly talented stylists who share Christie’s commitment to quality and care. Studio 259 continues to grow, evolve, and serve the community — one client at a time.
